Scaling back

I think I'm going to scale back my volunteer work.

Right now, I am on the parent council at my kids' school. I am on the Relay for Life committee for the Cancer Society. I'm a Humane Society volunteer and I am the union steward at work.

I think I would rather scale back to only those things that I get actual enjoyment out of.

I love volunteering with the animals, and by that I mean the shelter animals not my union brothers and sisters.
The fact that I may be working with animals that won't make it out of the shelter only makes me want to make the time they have even better. So, I'm ok with that one.

The parent council I have become very disillusioned with. I mean we never seem to do anything that makes any big difference. And the things I would like to see changed are not in line with the leaders of the council and the school so my ideas are seldom implemented.

The Cancer Society, I like. I mean I feel like I'm making a difference but it's sort of a disorganized committee and event. I think I may stick that one out for one more year. I won't be a newbie and can maybe be a little bit stronger force.

The Union...ugh! I don't know what it is about me that leads people to believe that you can just throw me into any situation with no instruction, no guidelines, no nothing and expect me to do a good job. I mean I have had no union experience before this job but I have gotten exactly no feedback or guidelines or anything since I was elected to the position. I didn't even so much as get any paperwork. No grievance forms, no Leave of Absence forms ...nothing. Can you tell it's run by men? (apologies to all you men out there but you KNOW I'm right.)

Yep, I think it's time to scale back.

I'm sure someone, somewhere will notice that I'm not working with them and then they will be sad....Muwhahahahahahaha.

P.S. Is anyone else bummed out that Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have split up? I don't know why I'm bummed but I am.
